La Roma

When La Roma’s co-owners were choosing a name, they wanted something that represented their Mexican roots, and their desire to create a unique multicultural dining experience. The name was inspired by Colonia Roma, a neighborhood in Mexico City with an unusual history.

Colonia Roma is at the cultural heart of Mexico City. It was built in the early 20th century for the city’s upper class. One of the principal investors of the neighborhood at that time was Walter Orrin, who also owned a circus. For this reason, the area was baptized Roma in honor of the Roman circus, and the names of the streets of Colonia Roma were given the names of the Mexican cities and states where Mr. Orrin’s circus had received the most applause. Today, Colonia Roma is a unique multicultural neighborhood with a vibrant arts, culture and dining scene.
